Sad News: Highway 154 Accident, Major Injuries Reported In Crash That Shut Down Highway 154

Highway 154 Accident: A severe two-vehicle collision on Highway 154 near the Paradise Road exit resulted in significant injuries Saturday night, temporarily closing the highway. The crash occurred around 8 p.m., leaving three individuals injured, including a woman in critical condition.

Emergency responders from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Santa Barbara County Fire Department, and AMR ambulance services swiftly arrived on the scene. Efforts focused on stabilizing the injured and managing the incident’s chaos.

The critically injured woman was airlifted by Calstar medical helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for urgent care. Authorities described her condition as critical, with no updates available at this time. Two others suffered moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. Their identities and current conditions remain undisclosed.

The collision led to the closure of both lanes of Highway 154 for several hours as investigators worked to determine the cause. Significant traffic delays ensued, with motorists directed to alternate routes. By early Sunday, the highway was reopened after emergency crews cleared the wreckage and completed their on-site investigation.

CHP has not yet disclosed whether speed, alcohol, or drugs contributed to the accident. Known for its scenic views and winding paths, Highway 154—also called the Chumash Highway—has a history of accidents, prompting officials to continually urge caution, particularly during low visibility or adverse weather conditions.
